I have two areas in my yard that are nothing but dirt. Two years ago both those areas were full of nice, green centipede grass. The grass died.
Recently, I tilled up the area of dirt in my front yard. I purchased a pallet of Bermuda grass. Lisa and I laid out the sod piece by piece. I began to water it, but there were sections that were turning brown. It was dying too.
I thought that maybe there was something wrong with the soil until my google search informed me it wasn't getting enough water. I started watering it in the morning and at night. We've also had several rain showers that has helped out tremendously. The result was the grass started turning green again.
Isaiah 58:11-12 is one of my favorite scriptures. "The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. YOU will be like a well-watered garden."
Are you experiencing a dryness in your life? If your garden isn't growing maybe it isn't getting enough water. Maybe we need to water it day and night.
Joshua 1:8 says, "Keep this book of the law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful."
If you will go to bible.com they have some different bible reading plans that are helpful. I also encourage you to read some good books to help you grow spiritually. One book that has rocked my world is the "Prodigal God" by Tim Keller. This week I've started reading "Truly Free" by Robert Morris.
During this hot summer don't find yourself taking a spiritual vacation. Make sure you are watering your garden..... everyday!
